Review: *** Chez Ray Petit Sirah, Lodi, California, 2005

Today we will sample the Chez Ray Petit Sirah from Lodi, 2005, now being sampled seven full years from vintage date, in November, 2013.  Bottling time for this wine can be seen here from early 2007.

Color is deep burgundy and magenta.  Not showing any orange or brick that would betray age; but also not opaque in the center of the glass.

Deep, charcoal laced fruit on the nose.

The palate brings a brightness of acids into the cheeks, riding along a dark oak-laced just-ripe blackberry fruit. Just manages three points on the Spirit of Wine scale.
