Review: *** Chez Ray Viognier, Lodi, California, 2011

Background:  This is the Chez Ray Viognier, Lodi, California 2011, vinted as described here.

In the glass: The viognier is clear with deep elements of yellow and golden honey.

On the nose:  Shows soft straw and butterscotch fruit, suggesting gentle and lightly sweet elements on the palate.

On the palate:  The primary elements on the palate are an interesting, straw- and honey- based element up front, followed by clean, soft butterscotch fruit.

In summary: Rates a full three stars on the Spirit of Wine scale, richer and more balanced than I might have anticipated.
