Harvest Time in the Northeast: NOT for winelovers only!

Harvest time is beginning in the states. Many California grapes are coming in weeks earlier this year. In the Northeast U.S., the Chez Ray vines are darkening with veraison.

However, our young northern vineyard is still promiscuous with the native varietals, like the red Concord shown here, rather than the vinifera varietals, like cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These are still stingy in their development. The Golden Muscat ripened a few sweet tasty grapes this year, a good harbinger for '08.
