Beer... the ultimate non sequitur

Well, I can't resist a brief aside from winemaking. I popped open a bottle of my well-aged homebrew beer, fondly called Vesuvius. I think the picture tells you all you need to know about the etymology of its name. Yes, malty, with plenty of hops, but something else too. Must be that certain something that gives it the heady lift.
